Big vs. Large のニュアンス差異は？

「大きくなった」と言う表現を英語で考えてみてください。そしたら「big」が単語が思い出せませんか？

またはこんな表現、聞いたことあるんじゃないですか？英語で小さい子供に「What a big boy!」と言うことがありますが、この表現は子供を慰めるか褒めるとき使う表現です。

つまり、「いいね、もう大きくなったね！」のような褒め言葉のニュアンス、明確ではありませんが、何か物理的に大きかったり精神的に成長したことを描写したり指す時に使います。

では、「large」はいつ使いますか？

簡単に言って、「large」は単独で使えません。つまり、「What a large boy!」、「What a large day!」とは使うことができません。

「Large」はある基準から物理的に大きいか、広いものなどの体積を指す概念だり、相対的比べて表現する時使える単語です。
