"Wait in line"は、ほとんどのアメリカ地域で一般的に使われる表現です。一方、「wait on line」はアメリカの中でも東海岸地域、特にニューヨークで頻繫に使われます

英文章を書く際には、「in line」が一般的な表現です。もし、皆さんがアメリカを旅行していて、この表現を使うべき状況になったら、安全に「in line」で表現した方がいいです。
