Brought vs. Bought 差異と意味

この文ではBroughtとBoughtの差異を習ってみましょう。下記の文章で何が違うか気づきましたか？

「Brought」と「bought」はスペルが似ていて同じ単語に見えますが、全く違う意味を持つ2つの単語です。まず、2つの単語の主な定義を見てみましょう。

「Bring」の過去形です。英英辞書によると'to have taken or gone to a place with someone or something’と言う意味を持っています。

「Buy」の過去形です。英英辞書によると'to obtain something in exchange for payment’と言う意味を持っています。

なので、「My father brought me a toy」とはおもちゃを持って来たと言う意味であり、「My father bought me a toy」とはおもちゃを買ってくれたと言う意味であります。

例）What brings you here? (ここには、何のご用ですか？）

2. (誰か及び何かを)特定の方向に動くようにする

例）She brought her hands out of her pockets. (彼女はポケットから手を出しました。)

3. (あることを)引き起こす

例）The lack of rain brought about drought. (雨不足が干ばつを引き起こしました。)

4. (誰か及び何かを)特定の状態や条件に置かれるようにする

例）The new policy brought the country to a state of calamity. (新しい政策はその国を災難の状態に陥りました。)

5. （誰かに対する法的措置を）開始する

例）Charges will be brought against the perpetrator. (加害者に対する告訴が行われます。)

6. (何かを)するために自らを押し付ける

例）He brought himself to confess his crimes.（彼は罪を白状する気になった。）

1. (誰かの忠誠心と支持を得る

例）He was bought by bribes. (彼は賄賂で買収されました。）

2. (カジュアルに) 真実であると信じ、又は受け入れたものと考えられる

例）I don’t buy that he said something nice about me. (私は彼が私のことを何かいいことを言ったとは思いません。)

もし使用しようとする単語があるもの、サーブス、及び幸せのような抽象的な概念を購入することと関連がある場合は「bought」を使います。しかし、あるものをどこかに持って行く、または何かが起こるようにすることと関連があるのであれば「Brought」を使います。
